Diagnostic and routine procedures are done in our Cedar Rapids office, including sonography and minor surgeries. Our physicians are recognized for innovative laparoscopic and laser surgeries for the treatment of urological dysfuntion, endometriosis and other conditions.
Dr. Rexroth, M.D.
Dr. Rexroth, M.D., grew up in Burlington, Iowa. He attended Simpson College graduating with a Biology & German major and Chemistry minor. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Iowa. After completing 1 year of General Surgery in Spartanburg, South Carolina, 4 years of OB Gyn Residency at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia was completed.
Dr Rexroth returned to Iowa to join the practice in 2003. He and his wife Teri (a hand therapist) have 3 children. He enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding as well as reading & spending time with his family.
Professionally, he specializes in pelvic reconstruction. His interests also include advancing minimally invasive surgery, and he performs many surgical procedures in the office. He was the first doctor at each hospital in Cedar Rapids to do Robotic procedures.
Dr. Bourgeous, M.D.
Dr. Bourgeous, M.D., grew up in Dubuque. He attended the University of Iowa for his undergraduate degree, which was a B.S. with Distinction and Honors. His major was Biologic Sciences. He also attended the University of Iowa for medical school and was awarded his M.D. in 1998. He completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology through the University of Illinois. After residency training he joined Ottumwa Obstetrics and Gynecology, PC. As a partner, practiced for 8 years before joining our practice in July 2010.
Dr. Bourgeous’ professional interests include minimally invasive surgery with and without the aid of the DaVinci robotic system; evaluation and treatment of premalignant diseases of the female genital tract; and evaluation and treatment of female urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and endometriosis. Dr. Bourgeous also enjoys delivering babies, he is accepting new obstetrical patients as well as new gynecologic patients.
Dr. Bourgeous and Lisa have been married since 1995 and have 4 children.
Dr. Orr, M.D.
Dr. Orr, M.D., grew up in Maynard, Iowa. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa. She then stayed at the University of Iowa for her medical degree as well as completing a four-year OB/Gyn residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Dr. Orr’s professional interests include minimally invasive surgery, adolescent gynecology, infertility, and obstetrics.
Dr. Orr joined the practice in August 2013. She has four children. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, and riding horses.
Dr. Alons, M.D.
Dr. Alons grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology at West Virginia University. After attending medical school, she completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at West Virginia University, where she served as a Chief Resident in her final year. After residency, she joined Ottumwa Obstetrics and Gynecology group, where she worked for nearly 5 years before joining our practice in July of 2017.
Dr. Alons’ professional interests include minimally invasive surgeries and the use of the DaVinci robotic system, treating and diagnosing disorders of the female genital tract, including irregular bleeding and abnormal pap smears, infertility, and general obstetrical care.
Dr. Alons is married and together they have 3 children and 1 English Bulldog. She enjoys traveling, spending time with her family as well as cooking.
Dr. Deer, D.O.
Dr. Deer grew up in Urbandale, Iowa. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology and Spanish at Simpson College. She attended Des Moines University for her medical degree and subsequently completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology in Omaha at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Dr. Deer’s professional interests include obstetrics including vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC), infertility, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.
Dr. Deer joined our practice in August 2018. She is engaged and they have a puppy. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exploring new places, donating time to philanthropies as well as cooking and baking.

With extensive experience in areas such as obstetrics, gynecology and perimenopause, we can provide you with the care, as well as the education, necessary to successfully manage the physical and emotional aspects of your health and well being.
All of your primary care services are available, and include physical exams, Pap smear screening and follow-up, contraception, pregnancy testing, prenatal and post-partum care, and prescriptions. In collaboration with Cedar Rapids Ob Gyn physicians, our nurse practitioner and physician’s assistant offer the optimum patient care for all stages of your life.
Jessica Arp, PA-C, MPA
Jessica grew up in Bellevue, Iowa. She attended Cornell College before receiving her PA degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL.
She joined the practice in the fall of 2012 and her professional interests include annual exams and contraceptive management.
She is married to her husband, Ryan, and they have one boy, Easton. She enjoys outdoor activities, sports, and spending time with family.
Amy Steger, ARNP
Amy joined the practice in April of 2014. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Allen College. Following completion of her BSN she enjoyed working as a labor nurse in the Cedar Rapids area for 6 years. Amy completed her Master of Science in nursing through the University of Cincinnati, specializing as a women’s health nurse practitioner.
Amy grew up in Edgewood, Iowa. She is married to her husband, Josh, and they have two daughters, Aliza and Aubrey, and a son, Nolan. They spend many of their weekends camping and enjoying the outdoors.
Sashi Solomon, ARNP-BC
Sashi grew up in Ames, IA. She graduated with honors from Drake University and St Louis University. She completed her Women’s Healthcare Nurse Practitioner training in 1997 at the University of Texas Southwest Medical Center and holds a Master’s degree from the University of Iowa.
Her professional interests include contraceptive management, well woman exams and menopause symptom management. She has extensive experience in family planning and bio-identical hormone therapy.
Sashi and her husband Kevin have two teenage children. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering, cooking, jogging, gardening and hanging out with her two rescue dogs.
Laura Lipsett, ARNP-BC
Laura grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. She obtained her Nursing degree from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing. Following graduation, she practiced as a registered nurse in labor & delivery at Iowa Methodist Hospital and in a private practice OB/GYN clinic. After 8 years, Laura then obtained her Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner degree through the Family Planning Council of Iowa and Drake University in 1997.
After moving to Cedar Rapids, Laura helped start the first and only comprehensive midlife clinic in Eastern Iowa specializing in Bioidentical Hormone Rebalancing in 2007. This continues to be one of her passions today. Other professional interests include annual exams, contraceptive management, and wellness promotion.
Laura is married to her husband Joe, and keeps very busy with her 4 boys. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and relaxing at their cabin.
