Our Physicians
When you come to Cedar Rapids Ob Gyn, our physicians give you the attention, patience, and expertise you deserve. We know you will have questions along the way, and we make sure we take the time to answer each question you might have.
Diagnostic and routine procedures are done in our Cedar Rapids office, including sonography and minor surgeries. Our physicians are recognized for innovative laparoscopic and laser surgeries for the treatment of urological dysfuntion, endometriosis and other conditions.
Dr. Rexroth grew up in Burlington, Iowa. He attended Simpson College graduating with a Biology & German major and Chemistry minor. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Iowa. After completing 1 year of General Surgery in Spartanburg, South Carolina, 4 years of OB Gyn Residency at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia was completed.
Dr Rexroth returned to Iowa to join the practice in 2003. He and his wife Teri (a hand therapist) have 3 children. He enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding as well as reading & spending time with his family.
Professionally, he specializes in pelvic reconstruction. His interests also include advancing minimally invasive surgery, and he performs many surgical procedures in the office. He was the first doctor at each hospital in Cedar Rapids to do Robotic procedures.
Dr. Pickering, M.D., grew up in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in Texas. After finishing his undergraduate degree at BYU, he returned to Dallas for medical school at UT Southwestern. He then completed a four-year residency at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN.
Dr. Pickering joined the practice in the summer of 2005, and he really enjoys living in eastern Iowa. He has three children aged 11, 13, and 15. He enjoys reading mystery/suspense novels, listening to classical music, and spending time with his family.
Dr. Bourgeous, M.D., grew up in Dubuque. He attended the University of Iowa for his undergraduate degree, which was a B.S. with Distinction and Honors. His major was Biologic Sciences. He also attended the University of Iowa for medical school and was awarded his M.D. in 1998. He completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology through the University of Illinois. After residency training he joined Ottumwa Obstetrics and Gynecology, PC. As a partner, practiced for 8 years before joining our practice in July 2010.
Dr. Bourgeous' professional interests include minimally invasive surgery with and without the aid of the DaVinci robotic system; minimally invasive and incision-free female sterilization; evaluation and treatment of premalignant diseases of the female genital tract; evaluation and treatment of female urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse as well as diagnosis, treatment and appropriate referral of gynecologic malignancies. Dr. Bourgeous also enjoys delivering babies, he is accepting new obstetrical patients as well as new gynecologic patients.
Dr. Bourgeous has been married to Lisa for 15 years and together they have 4 children.
